Malibu Crush’s Caleb Duncan

Upcoming actor Caleb Duncan was kind enough to give us 5 minutes for an exclusive interview after the release of his latest film, Malibu Crush. Caleb plays the role of Beverly Hills firefighter Derek Anderson.

Can you tell us about your upbringing?

My name is Caleb Duncan and I am from New Orleans LA, I’m 31 years old. I’m  the youngest of eight siblings. I grew up in a house hold full of women with six sisters and one brother. I’m a former American football player now turned actor, model.  I enjoy resistance training, yoga, outdoors and great people to be around.  I moved to Australia almost 3 years ago to pursue a life other than  professional sports.

– How did you get started in the entertainment industry?

Home shopping channel 75 in Australia was how I broke into the world of tv presenting.  Staring here is how I grew up in front of my own eyes.  After doing over 30 live tv shows selling fitness equipment with the role as Mr. Motivator develop me as an actor and a personality.

– What do you like most about your job?

What i like most about acting is that i can get into different characters and challenge myself.  Every job and audition is different which brings the best out of me.  i love being pushed to develop.  Which makes me better and better each time I’m acting or rehearsals.

– How different is it to act in a movie and to act in a TV series?

And which one do you prefer? For me i have been apart of two movies, i would love to be in a series.  The diffrence between tv presenting and doing a movie is totally different in my eyes.  Tv presenting is live tv at all times.  Which makes you think quickly to what to say next.  Also by having a producer telling me what to say in my ear.  When I first began it was challenging and hard but it became normal after doing so many shows.  After doing this my confidence grew to a high.  Movies are slower to me, which makes it a lot easier to do.  Movies take time and you  can do 100 takes until the director is happy with your performance.

– What are your weak points when it comes to acting?

How do you try to improve them? My weak points is not enough exposure to the world at the moment.  I believe i can act out any character with the proper coaching and resources.

– What have you learned from the directors that you have worked with throughout your career?

I’ve learned that every director is different and they require a different version of you when you are on set.  Most directors will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone for you to perform the way they see fit.

– What are some of the difficulties of the acting business?

Some difficulties of the acting business is you never know when your next job will come.  You have to stay ready and sharp when it comes to auditions.

– What’s challenging about bringing a script to life?

I love the challenge of bringing a script to life because you can interpret your script in so many different ways.

– What do you do when you’re not filming?

If I’m not doing commercials or filming I’m in the gym working on my body and mind.  Nature is helpful when it comes to clearing my mind to come up with different projects i want to work on. Talking with my big family keeps me grounded when I’m not filming.  My mom and dad is my biggest fans when it comes to my creative work.

– What has been the most memorable experience of your career so far?

The most memorable experience of my career so far is shooting my own Short Film with my team.  Ive been apart of a movie and did other people projects.  Fallen which is my own Movie takes the cake.  Sometimes you have use your own resources to get things done and show it to the world. Im extremely proud and thankful for Fallen which is a short film that is extremely powerful.

– If someone is going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?

I will play me in  a movie.  Im the star of this one.  Moving to Australlia from Las, Vegas meeting an Aussie woman at Encore Beach club to now shooting my own movie projects and i will soon do more movies.  I would be the perfect person.
