2019 Swimwear Trends With Edamey Hugentobler

As Summer 2019 is closing in, we asked rising model and Vice Miss Central Switzerland 2017, Edamey Hugentobler “What has been the biggest trends in swimwear this summer.

Here is Edamey’s tips from Summer 2019

BELTS

Just like the tie-dye trend, belted swimsuits are increasing in popularity and boast a retro vibe that dates back to the ’30s. Mara HoffmanSolid & Striped, and ASOS are just a few of the multitude of brands taking this throwback silhouette and modernizing it with bold and bright prints and colours you’ll keep in your closet forever. This summer a big trend for women was adding a little unexpected flair to their swimsuit in the form of a belt or ring and hoop details.

.

BOWS

Tiny bows are popping up on swimsuits, whether on the shoulders or on the side of your bikini bottoms. Some designers like Mara Hoffman even made them the focal point on swimsuits, placing them front and centre for the world to see. If you’re looking for just a touch of something-something in your otherwise basic swimsuits, opt for one of the pretty bow pieces below.

.

UNDERWIRE TOPS

But standing out as the throwback style that feels most fresh is the return of underwire bikini tops and one-pieces. These were especially popular at pool parties and night time pool events.

.

KNOTTED DESIGNS

The newest trend to emerge for the SS19 season is anything andeverything knotted. Pretty and practical, knotted bikinis and swimsuits allow for customisation (a bit of hoisting, tightening and perhaps loosening, towards the end of your holiday). Editor-turned-designer Lisa Marie Fernandez kicked things off a few years back with her cult ‘Poppy’ style – Rihanna and Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert are fans – and now other brands have put their own twist on tie details.

.

ONE PIECE SWIMWEAR

Last summer one piece swimwear made a big impression with the addition of both active and party wear being applied to wearing them. This Summer again one-piece swimwear was popular, Black was the most popular colour but animal print colours also have come back into style thanks to many celebrities including Kylie Jenner posting on Instagram over the summer.
